Dear readers-

Since we have started this blog, we have wanted to have it formatted so that just the first portion of the entry was shown with a link that says, "Read More..." on which you could click to read the rest of it. This way, if you didn't want to read or respond to that particular question, you didn't have to scroll down forever to find the rest of them. So, without any further ado, please click on the blue "Read More..." link below...

See what I mean? Now isn't that better. Our hope that this makes this blog more accessible and readable to you. If you have any other comments or suggestions, please let us know so we can take them into consideration.

Three questions.

We know God is timeless and all powerful. The Bible says he took six days to create the earth, which means God was time bound. And on the seventh day, He rested. Does this mean God, who is all powerful, was tired?

Second, why did God have to torture and kill his Son to redeem us from whatever sin it was we committed. Couldn't God, the all merciful, just have said: okay, you were wrong, but I forgive you. He had to crucify his only Son so that He would then say we are forgiven?

Third, when the Bible was written, there were no telescopes. People figured the sun revolved around the earth and the stars were windows in heaven, and we were the only planet in this vsst Universe.
But I do think that there are other planets with life like ours out there, somewhere. Is God going to have his only Son get tortured and die for these people too so that he can forgiven them?

Time is a created object. God is outside of time; all time is before him. He like an author of a novel: he writes the story but is not bound by the confines of the story.

God did not torture and kill his son. Human beings tortured and killed Jesus. Jesus willingly went through this to pay our debt. God is just and justice doesn't wink and say, "It's ok. I didn't really mean that there are consequences to your actions. You're forgiven." God clearly said that the penalty for sin was death. Justice is getting what you deserve. God is just. We deserve death. The cross represents mercy: us not getting what we deserve. God is merciful for Christ died for us. Grace is getting what you don't deserve (forgiveness). God in Christ offers grace.
